Born in Brooklyn, NY, Veronne G. Carter accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of 18, and saw God deliver him from low self-esteem, and a trivial pursuit of fortune, fame and worldly pleasures.

Highlights from our conversation:
1. Discussed how important it is to ‘teach’ our kids how to reason – how to make decisions vs. just answering their questions for them.
2. Learning to focus our time and energy on the long term outcome of life and not lose heart in the short term. Parenting is a lifelong process and responsibility.
3. Not being afraid to say “I Told You So” to your kids – no PC parenting, establish yourself as more experienced and more knowledgeable about life – about what’s a ‘fit’ for them.
Veronne spent several years in Nashville, TN pursuing a career in the Christian music industry until life spiraled out of control, leading him to relocate to Atlanta, GA, and ultimately to Pennsylvania in 2005. Veronne found strength in Christ to lay down his own will and pursuits, and totally trust God for restoration and direction. Veronne was ordained as a minister in 2009 at a local area church. In 2010 Veronne and Vonetta felt a desire to move the family down south (North Carolina) and prepared for it. Yet on the eve of the move (with the truck packed, home in NC rented) felt the Lord saying “no. That’s not my will for you right now.” In an act of obedience, they unloaded the moving truck, and stayed planted in Hatboro, PA.
In 2012, the Lord led him to CrossWay Community Church where the family got further involved in ministry and God used Pastor Michael Saunders to confirm the call that was prophesied to Veronne over 10 years prior. Under the leadership and mentorship of Pastor Mike, Veronne pursued and received his ministerial license in 2013, joined the staff at CrossWay, grew as a pastor (overseeing youth and children’s ministries, and assimilation) and began pursuing his ordination through the Wesleyan Church.
Prior to his ministry at CrossWay, Veronne spent over 9 years working in youth ministry as either a leader or director, over 5 years in performing arts ministry, and over 5 years as a teacher and leader in children’s ministry. He has enjoyed several fulfilling vocations: 10 years in retail (6 of those in management), 4 years as a Paralegal/Legal Assistant, and 3 years in Human Resources. Veronne has also spent several years actively involved in various community organizations including the YMCA, Rotary International, Kiwanis International, and local Chambers of Commerce “ looking at each involvement as an opportunity to share the good news and love of Jesus to the world. Veronne continues to have a heart for discipleship and getting out into the midst of the community and sharing his faith and God’s love with all. He continues to work with young people in training in the performing arts, and believes that we all, together – regardless of age, background, race, ethnicity, or experience – are called together to be the Christian church of TODAY!
In August 2014, Veronne accepted a call to pastor First Wesleyan Church in Nashville, TN. Although certainly not a simple feat, moving his family 800+ miles south of their home church, he found it more important to follow the call of God and to continue to dedicate his life to sharing Jesus with the lost and discipling individuals toward a closer relationship with Christ (spiritual growth).
He and his wife, Vonetta, enjoy raising their 8 children (ages 4 – 18), spending family time, listening to music – and sharing ‘family movie time’ on the weekends. When not in church you can usually find members of the Carter family at a local Christian concert – youth/kids camp or ministry conference! Vonetta has a heart for prayer, evangelism, and ministry to women of all ages. Her heart is to see God make the crooked and broken places straight in the lives of all she comes in contact with.
